It is prohibited, at the SFUO, to run in slates.
Candidates may not share resources, volunteers, strategies, etc.
There are so many rules during SFUO elections that it is said that "At the SFUO, the wording of the rules are followed, but not the spirit."
Inevitably, slates will be formed.
To the large disappointment of many, most students are oblivious to them.
If you are still interesting in knowing who is in each "slate", here it goes:
"Undeclared slate" (well, we worked together for a year, what do you expect? we're progressive. we want green initiatives. we all support a more political role for the sfuo. oh. and we're all pro-cfs, and want a referendum on it.)
Danika Brisson
François Picard
Seamus Wolfe
Roxanne Dubois
Joël Larose, sort of.*
"Defacto Slate" (well, we're the candidates of change, what do you expect? We're non-political, more neutral, sure a bit more conservative, but you know, we want the SFUO to be what it was a few years ago. oh. and we're all against cfs but want a referendum to be held on it.)
Liz Doneathy
Julie Séguin
Blake Thibault
Joel Larose
Non-aligned (fuck your "revolutions", I'll bring you a revolution.)
Nicholas Laplante
*Many people think Laplante is part of the "undeclared" slate. Ideologically speaking, this would be accurate. But contrary to most other candidates, he has simply not been in either cliques.
As for Larose, he has been running a pretty "neutral" campaign, but he is undeniably closer to the "defacto" bloc than he is to the "undeclared" one. Nonetheless, he's got fans on both slates.
