Prime Time: Mike Fancie is Fancy'in up

Mike Fancie, candidate for the BOA elections, is accidentally wearing the same thing as Ryan Kennery.

The race in social sciences is a straight forward one. Seven candidates. Six positions. Fancie is a Picard volunteer.

Just out of curiosity, does it not seem a little bit contrary to have people who are supposed to be overseeing others volunteering for them if they want to fill a position on the BOA? Does it not constitute, in some way, a slate between the legislative and the executive?

*Shrug*

Actually Austin, each candidate for a position on the BOA is able to endorse and therefore volunteer for one candidate for an SFUO position.

I was skeptical of it as well, but that's what the rules allowed so I played to the reality of the situation.

Improvements will certainly need to be made for the next BOA elections, and I'm confident that will be a topic of discussion.

That doesn't necessarily mean its right? If there are any two bodies that shouldn't be complicit...

I understand your point. It was within the rules. Improvements need to be made, I agree.

Ryan, you consistently make me feel assured that there will be competent voices on the BOA!

considering this is the first time BOA elections have been run in this way, i think its understandable that it be less than perfect

Austin, it may not be right, but I think it can be kind of helpful to the voters. Afterall, if you dont have a lot of time to read the BOA candidates' platforms, you can at least see who sides with the SFUO candidates who's platforms you do agree with? But maybe that's just me.

Hopefully I get elected then!

Okay, let me clarify. The BOA should not be complicit with the SFUO Executive as it is supposed to be independently ensuring that the SFUO is running properly.

It is OK in my books if SFUO Executive candidates want to run on similar platforms, and allow students to vote that way... But the BOA should be separate. I see where you are coming from though, however I just believe that they should be forming a system of checks and balances, not a system of complicity.

I am confident that such things will be resolved in future elections.
