Sources tell me both Dean Haldenby and Joseph Wesley Richards II have shifted their focus to students in residence.
Haldenby has already sent out an email to
all CAs (
Campus Community Advisers?), a move that destabilised JWR2, who has considered Res Students as his "base" since the beginning of the race. One of the CAs has complained about the spam and she informed the JWR2 camp about the email.
In the email in question, Haldenby requests a meeting with them. JWR2 is scrambling to meet them as well, and is trying to beat out Haldenby by meeting with them first.
More information to come. (If necessary)

REZ BATTLE 08: DEATHMATCH
proof you can never be too confident about your voter 'base'. rookie mistake?
Why did JWR think that students in Rez were his base? Considering that I am currently living in Rez I am not sure that anyone here even really cares about the SFUO elections. Of the select (read 4) people that I know that do, they're all supporting Haldenby. I know that RPG has done some door knocking in rez already although apparently it failed to impress. I just heard that from a friend though so I can't verify.
rez really isn't a 'base' - it's a set of buildings... you won't see a bunch of rez students voting in a block
and doorknocking is in violation of the election rules (12.2.2)
illegal door knocking?
Did not know about ilegality of door knocking. I just know a friend who said he talked to RPG and I got the impression it was in Rez. Maybe I misunderstood, I don't want to be the one to try and make these allegations.
Regardless of "bases," it's nice to see candidates paying attention to voters in residence. Best of luck to all three.
simple: students on rez stay on campus....they are more likely to take their time and vote as opposed to people who just come to campus for classes and leave afterwards
most students in rez are first year students. They don't know what's happening and they don't care very much. I voted when I lived in Leblanc, but it was an uninformed vote.
Yes it is great that people in residence are getting some attention.
