By-election campaign: JRW2 update

JWR2 tried to appeal the Elections Office decision to fine him 70$, to which they replied:
Please be advised that the Elections Office has discussed your concers and maintains the decision that it had made on 02 March 2008.

Thank You,
Sylvia Lewis-Havard
Chief Elections Officer

In other news, the meeting between JRW2 and Austin Menyasz happened and JRW2 has told Menyasz that he will give him a response in the coming hours. More information to come.

JRW2 is set to put his posters up tomorrow.

Great way to show 'financial responsibility" by losing $70 to fines in one day. I wonder how long until he's paying the elections office.

I guess his Exploratory Committee didn't foresee the whole "breaking the rules" thing as being a problem.

Should have got Austin on there sooner - could have saved him $70.

I think that we can honestly characterize the infractions on an honest mistake... It happens. But I agree, Austin might make this interesting... I don't necessarily like him very much, but he knows how to run a campaign...

I find it interesting that JRW2 would be fined $70 for a minor infraction with, what appears to be, little consideration for his appeals after Dean submitted a complaint...

For those of you who are not aware, on Feb. 11, Dean was in a number of classrooms for the purposes of "discussing the uni-pass". Yet during these discussions he took the opportunity to start promoting his run for Presidency, contrary to the election guidelines set out for candidates...

When reported, a number of the students were politely informed that Dean was there for discussing the U-pass, and that he did not discuss his run for presidency... Strange that with the number of students who heard him, the incident was just brushed under the carpet with little to no investigation...

I guess hipocrisy is a valued trait in presidential candidates.

Mr. Anonymous,

I was in one of those classes too, and Dean never stated that he was running for President-- don't throw mistruths around... he was assisting with a referendum campaign that will benefit students! That's it, that's all!
